The Round of 16 has taken shape, and the second week of action at the 2011 U.S. Open gets underway Monday, Sept. 5 with a full slate of top-seeded stars still in contention. On the women's side of the draw, a marquee matchup in the afternoon at Arthur Ashe Stadium will see the 28-seed, American Serena Williams, take on the number 16 seed, Serbian Ana Ivanovic.

Action at the 2011 U.S. Open will be light on Tuesday, as the Round of 16 will be further reduced and the women's singles quarterfinals will take center stage at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. The first women's quarterfinals match will feature the unseeded German Angelique Kerber take on the number 26 seeded Italian Flavia Pennetta at Louis Armstrong Stadium.

Among those chosen for the boy's team is local product Noah Rubin of Merrick, N.Y. who made the cut and will join teammates Jordan Belga of Elk Grove Village, Ill. and Stefan Kozlov of Pembroke Pines, Fla. to represent the United States squad.

Rain may have dampened and caused a five-hour delay of day five of the French Open, but it didn't dampen the play of Americans Andy Roddick and John Isner as the duo advanced at Roland Garros. Roddick defeated Blaz Kavcic of Slovenia, 6-3, 5-7, 6-4, 6-2 in a rain delay-filled affair.

The best of five matchup between the United States and Russia started with Melane Oudin defeating Alla Kudryavtseva 6-3 6-3 to give the United States a 1-0 match lead. Elena Dementieva defeated Bethanie Mattek-Sands in the second match to even the series at 1-1. In Sunday's reverse singles Dementieva defeated Oudin 7-6 0-6 6-3 to put the Russians ahead but Mattek-Sands defeated Kudryavtseva 6-4 2-6 6-3 in a tough match to even things up at 2-2.

The Tennis Channel will provide exclusive live coverage of the U.S. Fed Cup semifinal against Russia in Birmingham, Ala., this weekend, with telecasts Saturday, April 24, and Sunday, April 25. The competition between the 2009 Fed Cup runner-up Americans and Russia will consist of two singles matches on Saturday, followed by two singles matches and the doubles match Sunday. Tennis Channel will carry all matches live, beginning at 2:00 p.m. ET each day, followed by same-day encore coverage each evening.

Stepping out of the airport alone, I am filled with anxiety and nervousness wondering whether or not there will be someone from the tournament there to pick me up. Here I am, all by myself, in an African country and wondering how in the world my parents agreed to send me here. I was excited at first about the idea that this new independence would conjure up the strength needed to start pulling out the tough matches I was losing so closely in the third set. It was the first time I had travelled without a coach, friend or parent, and it was an adventure I thought I was ready for. But, after a nine-hour flight to London, then another four-hour leg to Lagos, Nigeria, I asked myself, “Is this really worth it?” Did I really travel halfway around the world to chase after “easy” points.
