Local tennis players are encouraged to clean their closets and remove unused and unwanted tennis clothing. For the next month, the USTA Eastern Long Island Region will be collecting new and gently-used tennis clothing to help athletes in need.

The 2011 Nassau and Suffolk County Girls High School seasons are well underway and headed down the home stretch. Battling for top bragging rights in Nassau County's Conference I are Syosset and Port Washington. Both squads boast seven wins, however, Port Washington's lone loss came at the hands of Syosset, 6-1 on Sept. 21.

As the 2011 New York State Public High School Athletic Association Tournament kicked off, Long Island representatives gave a strong showing on day one. Between six singles and six doubles matches, Nassau and Suffolk County combined together had eight wins.

The Tennis Association of Farmingdale (TAF) is an adult tennis league providing its members the opportunity to play outdoor competitive tennis during the months of May through September. TAF is comprised of seven ladders, men’s and women’s singles and doubles, mixed-doubles, and men’s and women’s senior (50 and over) singles. TAF operates under a ladder format, whereas you always have a range of 20 players to challenge to a match. This format ensures that players will naturally gravitate toward others of their own ability level.
