Taylor Townsend of Stockbridge, Ga., captured the Girls 18s singles title at the 2012 Easter Bowl ITF Tennis Championships on Saturday, and Mackenzie McDonald of Piedmont, Calif., won the Boys 18s title on Sunday.

At the 2012 Easter Bowl at the Rancho Las Palmas Resort in Rancho Mirage, Calif., 14-year-old Stefan Kozlov of Pembroke Pines, Fla., defeated local player Dennis Uspensky of Atlantic Beach, N.Y, 6-4, 6-3, to move into the third round of the event.

The Boys 18 Division began play on Tuesday at the 2012 Easter Bowl, as both the number one and two seeds, Mitchell Krueger of Aledo, Texas and Noah Rubin of Rockville Centre, N.Y., respectively, scored straight-set wins at the Rancho Las Palmas Resort in Rancho Mirage, Calif. The second seeded Rubin was a 6-4, 6-3 winner over Nick Wood of Knoxville, Tenn.

Taylor Townsend, a 15-year-old from Stockbridge, Ga., defeated 17-year-old Russian Yulia Putintseva, 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 to win the 2012 Australian Open Girls Singles Title. Earlier, Townsend partnered with 15-year-old Gabrielle Andrews of Pomona, Calif., to win the 2012 Australian Open Girls Doubles title.

The USTA has named the 10 girls and four boys who have been accepted into the main draw and the qualifying draw at the 2012 Australian Open Junior Championships. Among those selected is Julia Elbaba of Oyster Bay, N.Y. who is in the qualifying draw to compete in the Australian Junior Open which commences later in the tournament.

The Racquet Club of the South outside of Atlanta is once again the site for the USTA Austrailian Open Wildcard Playoff. Coco Vandeweghe, who reached the finals at this event last year was matched up with 15-year old Taylor Townsend. In the end, Vandeweghe's experience paid off with a 6-4, 6-4 straight set victory.

American boys have had a rough time adapting to the clay courts at the 2011 Orange Bowl, taking place at the Frank Veltri Tennis Center in Plantation, Fla. Only two Americans reached the round of 16 in the Boys 18s draw, and Americans were shut out entirely from the Boys 16s quarterfinals.

On Day Two of the USTA International Spring Championships in at the USTA Training Center West Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif., Merrick, N.Y.'s Noah Rubin advanced in the prestigious tournament with a 6-0, 6-4 win over Logan Smith of Carlsbad, Calif. Rubin was fresh off his 6-3, 6-1 win over Japan's Kentaro Mizushima. Another local playing in the event, Aidan Talcott of East Norwich, N.Y., was defeated by William Chiu of San Diego, Calif., 4-6, 7-6(6), 6-2.

Among those chosen for the boy's team is local product Noah Rubin of Merrick, N.Y. who made the cut and will join teammates Jordan Belga of Elk Grove Village, Ill. and Stefan Kozlov of Pembroke Pines, Fla. to represent the United States squad.
