The USTA has announced that it will host its annual open casting call on Tuesday, June 19 at Harlem’s World Famous Apollo Theater in New York City to select children to perform at the 2012 U.S. Open, set for Aug. 27-Sept. 9. Winners will perform “America the Beautiful” live at Arthur Ashe Stadium during night sessions of this year’s U.S. Open at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

The USTA has announced that the U.S. Junior Fed Cup and U.S. Junior Davis Cup (16-and-under) teams and both the boys’ and girls’ World Junior Tennis teams (14-and-under) won the North/Central America & Caribbean Regional Championships this weekend to qualify for the 2012 World Finals. The Regional Championships were held in Merida, Mexico. All four teams went an undefeated 3-0 en route to winning their regional titles.

Fish, who was the top-seeded player at the event and overall ninth ranked player in the world, was playing for the first time since he pulled out of the U.S. Davis Cup match against France due to illness.

Before the tournament began, there was an earthquake centered in Washington, D.C. and felt on the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center with no physical damage to the site of the Open.
