The USTA has announced that it will host its annual open casting call on Tuesday, June 19 at Harlem’s World Famous Apollo Theater in New York City to select children to perform at the 2012 U.S. Open, set for Aug. 27-Sept. 9. Winners will perform “America the Beautiful” live at Arthur Ashe Stadium during night sessions of this year’s U.S. Open at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

Players age 14 and older can register for singles competition and/or mixed-doubles. Registration deadlines for the 13 sectional qualifying events vary by tournament.

I am still fired up from this year’s U.S. Open … the most physical Grand Slam tournaments I've ever been a part of since I began playing them in 1983. Before the tournament began, there was an earthquake centered in Washington, D.C. and felt on the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center with no physical damage to the site of the Open.
