The USTA has announced that despite facing a hurricane at the start of the tournament and then overcoming two days of rain resulting in the need to reschedule the final five days of the tournament, the 2011 U.S. Open still attracted more than 650,000 fans to the grounds of the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

The 2011 U.S. Open concluded Monday evening with the Men's Singles match between number-one seeded Novak Djokovic from Serbia and the second-seeded Rafael Nadal from Spain. Djokovic took the match in four sets, 6-2, 6-4, 6-7 (3), 6-1, and in the process, won his first-ever U.S. Open championship and third Grand Slam event of the year.

The number-two seed and former world number one Rafael Nadal fell at the hands of Novak Djokovic in the 2011 U.S. Open Men's Singles final. KIm Clijsters was dominant Saturday night in defeating Vera Zvonareva in straight sets 6-2, 6-1 en route to her second consecutive U.S. Open title. The match took just 59 min. to complete and Clijsters was in control from start to finish and dictated play in almost every point. The win gave Clijsters a second consecutive U.S. Open championship and third overall.

As expected, the competitors came through and delivered two weeks worth of high intensity drama, upsets, Cinderella stories, hard-fought comebacks, introduced us to new stars in the making, and in the end, two new champions were crowned.
