The USTA today announced generational icon and cultural legend Phil Collins will perform during the Opening Night Ceremonies for the 2016 US Open on the evening of Monday, August 29, in Arthur Ashe Stadium at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.  The performance, Collins’ first major public appearancein six years, will be televised live by ESPN2 in the United States and by a host of international broadcasters around the world.

The USTA announced on Wednesday that the US Open National Playoffs will be held for the seventh season this year, expanding the footprint of the US Open to cities nationwide by providing the opportunity for all players 14 years of age and older to earn a berth into all five draws at the US Open. Tennis players of all levels can compete in men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles.

Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) presented its annual awards last week during the 2016 PTR International Tennis Symposium.  The event, which includes more than 40 educational presentations for tennis teachers and coaches, was held February 17-20 on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. Jenny Schnitzer, of Slate Hill, New York, has been named PTR Member of the Year for the State.  This award is presented to a PTR member who has shown dedication and diligence in promoting and supporting tennis and PTR.
