As one of the largest non-for profit organizations in the world, the USTA is driven by many dedicated individuals who donate their time and effort to help develop and grow the sport we all love. In having so many willing volunteers, the USTA holds workshops to help instill in their volunteers the core values they should be coaching to their tennis students as well as recognizes them for their hard work and dedication.

Once a year, the USTA nationally recognizes all those who promote and grow the sport of tennis by holding the Community Tennis Development Workshop (CTDW). For three days, the tennis community is brought together to learn, teach, inspire, and honor people that work so hard for a sport that they love.

USTA Serves, the National Charitable Foundation of the United States Tennis Association, has announced that it has awarded 33 year-end grants totaling $420,650. The number of program grants awarded in 2010 was 59, totaling $855,150. Combined with scholarship awards, USTA Serves distributed more than $1 million in 2010.

On Jan. 29-30, 2010, USTA Eastern used its Annual Meeting as a forum for volunteers to meet and discuss strategies to grow tennis throughout the section. The meeting, called “You Serve 2010,” was held at the Renaissance Westchester Hotel in White Plains, N.Y. and attracted more than 130 participants from across New York and New Jersey.
