The USTA has announced that Dan James, USTA Manager of Wheelchair Tennis and the U.S. Wheelchair Tennis Coach, has been named the 2011 Wheelchair Tennis Coach of the Year by the International Tennis Federation (ITF). James will be presented with a trophy during the 2012 BNP Paribas World Team Cup in Seoul, Korea.

After inclement weather not only moved Sunday's Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Championship match out of Cary, N.C., and indoors to Wake Forest's indoor tennis complex, Duke rallied back from a lost doubles point to win four singles matches, defeat rival North Carolina, 4-2, and claim its 17th ACC title in program history.

The evening of March 24th brought fun for the whole family to the Eastern Athletic Club in Blue Point, N.Y. as the Stony Brook University Family Fun Fest and Fundraiser was held where members of the Stony Brook University Seawolves men's and women's tennis teams were on hand to provide lessons, instructional drills and play points with members of the local community.

Duke men's tennis head coach Ramsey Smith has announced on Monday the signing of three of the nation's best recruits, as well as one of the top international recruits. Among this crop is Cold Spring Harbor's Josh Levine, who will join Michael Redlicki, Daniel McCall and Bruno Semenzato will join the Blue Devils for the 2012-13 season.

The USTA has announced the top American collegians selected to represent the United States in the Sixth Annual Master’U BNP Paribas, an international collegiate team competition held Dec. 8-11 in Rouen, France. The event features eight teams composed of college and university players from around the world.

USTA Player Development has announced that eight junior development programs in six states have been named USTA Certified Regional Training Centers as part of its continuing effort to develop the next generation of world-class American players. The eight programs will create networks serving the Northeast portion of the country and the USTA’s Missouri Valley section.

It was a repeat of last year's Long Island Girls High School Tennis final, as the Syosset Girls Varsity Tennis team defeated Half Hollow Hills West by a count of 6-1 on Nov. 2. It was a dominating performance by the Lady Braves, as all four singles, and first and third doubles, won their matches convincingly.

Stony Brook University and Head Coach Gary Glassman will stage an exciting serve and volley event that will showcase college women's tennis' true athletic ability. Ten East Coast collegiate teams will be playing the half court serve and volley singles game played on the doubles court known as One-On-One Doubles, on Sunday, Sept. 19 from 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. as Stony Brook hosts the Second Annual Women's Collegiate One-On-One Doubles Championships.

For the first time in school history, the Vassar College men’s tennis team has earned a national ranking. In the most recent Men’s National Team Rankings, which is administered by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), the Brewers secured a number 22 national ranking.

As the assistant coach of men’s and women’s tennis at Hofstra University, I had the pleasure of starting the team off this year, but was truly happy when our athletic director hired a new head coach, Amanda Foukas.
