The USTA has announced that world number one Victoria Azarenka of Belarus has been named the top seed in women’s singles at the 2012 U.S. Open, set to begin next week Aug. 27 and run through Sept. 9 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y.

Switzerland's Roger Federer defeated American John Isner in a close match, 6-4, 7-6(5) to advance to the semifinals of the 2012 London Olympic Games. The second set and match closed with a tie-breaker at 6-5 with Isner serving.
