The best of five matchup between the United States and Russia started with Melane Oudin defeating Alla Kudryavtseva 6-3 6-3 to give the United States a 1-0 match lead. Elena Dementieva defeated Bethanie Mattek-Sands in the second match to even the series at 1-1. In Sunday's reverse singles Dementieva defeated Oudin 7-6 0-6 6-3 to put the Russians ahead but Mattek-Sands defeated Kudryavtseva 6-4 2-6 6-3 in a tough match to even things up at 2-2.

The Tennis Channel will provide exclusive live coverage of the U.S. Fed Cup semifinal against Russia in Birmingham, Ala., this weekend, with telecasts Saturday, April 24, and Sunday, April 25. The competition between the 2009 Fed Cup runner-up Americans and Russia will consist of two singles matches on Saturday, followed by two singles matches and the doubles match Sunday. Tennis Channel will carry all matches live, beginning at 2:00 p.m. ET each day, followed by same-day encore coverage each evening.

Melanie Oudin won her two singles matches to lead the United States to a 4-1 victory over France and secure a spot in the Fed Cup Semifinals. Oudin ousted Julie Coin 7-6 (3), 6-4 in just over two hours Sunday to give the Americans an insurmountable 3-0 lead. The U.S. will next face Russia, April 24-25.
