American teenager Amanda Anisimova notched a massive victory over Petra Kvitova at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, Calif. on Sunday night, knocking out the eighth-seeded Czech 6-2, 6-4.

“I’m still in shock,” the 16-year-old said afterwards. “She’s the best player I have ever played, and it was the biggest court I have ever played on. So it was definitely nerve-racking, but I was enjoying it so much out there and I was playing my best. It was a good day.”

Anisimova needed just over an hour to earn the biggest win of her young career and by doing so she snapped the 14-match winning streak by Kvitova, a two-time Wimbledon champion. She is now the first 16-year-old to reach the Indian Wells’ fourth round since 2005, per WTA.

She faces another tough task in her next match as fifth-seed Karolina Pliskova awaits. Pliskova, who edged 32nd seed Shuai Zhang 7-5, 5-7, 6-3.

World number one Simona Halep got a serious test from American wildcard Caroline Dolehide, fighting back from a bad first set to win 1-6, 7-6(3), 6-2 and advance.

“I’m really, really happy about this victory,” said Halep. “It was tough down there, and much respect to her, because she’s playing really good tennis.”

Halep will square off against China’s Qiang Wang, who upset 14th seed Kristina Mladenovic of France 6-1, 6-2 on Sunday.

On the men’s side, Roger Federer, Marin Cilic, Jack Sock and Gael Monfils all advanced to the fourth round.
