Vera Zvonareva of Russia defeated Caroline Wozniacki, the number one seed coming in to the 2011 Quatar Open, 6-4, 6-4, to take home the championshiop and her 11th WTA title. Zvonareva even her overall record against Wozniacki at 4-4 with the win. Wozniacki lost her serve in the first game, and lost momentum early, as Zvonareva rallied from 0-40 down in the eighth game and eventually served out the set.

“Not a great tournament in the end, but I’m happy to be here,” Wozniacki said. “Vera played a very good match. She played at a very high level. I had my chances and had quite a few break points. I didn’t convert.”

“I’m very excited at the moment,” said Zvonareva. “It was definitely a special moment for me on the court.”
