Tuesday-Sunday, Aug. 9-12 marks the First Annual Summer Charity Tournament, a fundraiser for Cure Mommy’s Breast Cancer to be held at Long Beach Tennis Center. Cure Mommy’s Breast Cancer was formed in 2000 by Carmela Short when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. The non-profit charity provides financial assistance to anyone in need of assistance while suffering from this disease. CMBC has raised over $500,000 since it was formed.

Some examples of how Cure Mommy’s Breast Cancer has helped in the past include, paid medical premiums, paid rent utility bills while a patient was unable to work during treatment, and paid for home cleaning services for a cancer patient.

For those interested in playing in the tournament, women’s singles, men’s doubles, and mixed-doubles will be played.  Registration is $75 for singles and $50 for doubles per player. Sponsorship opportunities are also available with preferred seating. All proceeds go to Cure Mommy’s Breast Cancer.

Information on registering for the tournament can be found on www.usta.com, Tournament ID: 100038612. For tickets and information about becoming a sponsor, contact Sid at (516) 432-6060 or e-mail sid@longbeachtenniscenter.com.
