Rain has plagued Tuesday's schedule at the 2012 U.S. Open, as only one singles match has been completed. Women's singles top-seeded Victoria Azarenka advanced to the semifinals for the first time on with a 6-1, 4-6, 7-6(7/5) win over defending champion Samantha Stosur. Azarenka, who maintained her world number one spot by reaching the U.S. Open final four, will now face either 2006 champion Maria Sharapova or 11th seeded Marion Bartoli in the semis on Friday afternoon.

On Louis Armstrong Court, David Ferrer and Richard Gasquet were battling when rain interrupted play. Ferrer the fourth seed, won the opening set 6-4 before falling down 3-5 in the second. Ferrer broke back though and won four straight games to take a commanding two sets to none lead.

If weather permits, Maria Sharapova is scheduled to face Marion Bartoli and Novak Djokovic will do battle with Stanilas Wawrinka on Ashe and Philip Kohlschreiber is next up on Louis Armstrong as he takes on Tomas Berdych. Andy Roddick is scheduled to face Juan Martin del Potro in the Night Session.
