Clijsters Wins WTA Sportsmanship Award and Year-End Fan Favorite Votes Are Tallied

The WTA has been revealing its WTA Player Awards voted for by the international media, including first Comeback Player of the Year Yaroslava Shvedova, Newcomer of the Year Laura Robson, Doubles Team of the Year Sara Errani & Roberta Vinci and Most Improved Player Sara Errani, and Player of the Year Serena Williams. The fans have voted for the fifth and final wave of WTA Player Awards for 2012.

The Karen Krantzcke Sportsmanship Award, recognizing professionalism, attitude and sense of fair play, and the Player Service Award, which recognizes the player who has done the most to support fellow players through the WTA Players’ Council and other initiatives, are both voted for by the WTA players themselves, and two former number ones won—the Karen Krantzcke Sportsmanship Award went to Kim Clijsters, and the Player Service Award to Venus Williams. The Fan Favorite Awards—for seven days last week, 65,535 of votes were cast in five award categories, and Agnieszka Radwanska seems to be very popular—see below for the results:

Fan Favorite Singles Player of the Year
Agnieszka Radwanska: Though there were 13 players to choose from, 42.8 percent of the votes went to Agnieszka Radwanska, while Li Na came in second with 27 percent of the vote.

Fan Favorite Doubles Team of the Year
Serena Williams & Venus Williams: There were five teams to choose from and it was Serena Williams & Venus Williams who finished first with 36 percent of the votes (Maria Kirilenko & Nadia Petrova came in second place with 25.5 percent of the votes).

►Caroline Wozniacki: There were five Twitter pages to choose from and it was Caroline Wozniacki who finished first with 42 percent of the vote while Serena Williams came in second with 24.9 percent.

►Agnieszka Radwanska: There were five Facebook pages to choose from and it was Agnieszka Radwanska who finished first with 46.5 percent of the votes, while Maria Sharapova came in second place with 24 percent of the vote.

►Agnieszka Radwanska & The Bee: There were five videos to choose from and in the most dominant Fan Favorite victory of the day it was Agnieszka Radwanska’s battle with a bee that won, earning 48.7 percent of the vote (the Strong Is Beautiful ad was second with 20.8 percent).
