American Ryan Harrison to Meet Nadal in Second Round Action at Indian Wells

American Ryan Harrison set a second-round clash with two-time former champion Rafael Nadal after defeating Go Soeda 6-0, 4-6, 6-3 in opening round action at the 2013 BNP Paribas Open. Harrison capitalized on four of his six break points to seal the victory.

Lleyton Hewitt will meet John Isner in the second round of the 2013 BNP Paribas Open after Lukas Rosol in first round action, 6-4, 3-6, 6-1, converting four of his 12 break points. Hewitt is currently ranked 98th in the ATP Men’s Singles is bidding to rediscover his form at this ATP World Tour Masters 1000 tournament, where he was victorious in 2002 and in 2003, and finished runner-up in 2005, losing to Roger Federer.

"This is one of my favorite tournaments," said Hewitt. "I love the conditions, I love everything about this tournament. It’s been one of my favorite stops over the years. Last year I couldn’t play because of surgery, so it’s good to be back."

Hewitt was joined in the second round by his fellow countryman Bernard Tomic, who opened his campaign with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Brazilian Thomaz Bellucci. Tomic, who won his first ATP World Tour title at the start of the season in Sydney, broke serve once in each set for victory in 68 minutes.

Belgium’s David Goffin recorded his third tour-level win of the season as he overcame Viktor Troicki of Serbia 4-6, 6-3, 6-4. Goffin made his breakthrough with a run to the fourth round as a qualifier at the French Open last year, and is playing in Indian Wells for the first time.

Former world number three David Nalbandian saved seven of eight break points as he defeated Marcel Granollers of Spain 6-4, 6-2. A two-time quarterfinalist at Indian Wells, Nalbandian recently returned to action with a runner-up showing in Sao Paulo after a six-month injury lay off.
