And the United States Tennis Association wants to know if your community has what it takes to be named Best Tennis Town! Does your town or city have what it takes to be the Nation’s Best Tennis Town? The United States Tennis Association wants to know if your community has what it takes to be named Best Tennis Town! The grand prize for the 2010 Best Tennis Town will receive the following:
-2010 Best Tennis Town title and trophy
-$100,000 to be used for community wide programming or facility enhancements that the winning entrant endorses, as approved by the USTA
-The community will receive the 2010 Best Tennis Town award during the 2010 US Open, at a date to be determined

From now through June 28, 2010, you can nominate your community for the 2010 Best Tennis Town contest. There is only one nomination allowed for each community, so please be sure to work with leaders in your community to create a joint entry. You will need the support of your town/city mayor, Park & Recreation Director, city official or equivalent leader, to complete your entry in to the 2010 Best Tennis Town contest, so be sure that you are able to rally your community around the effort.
The nomination requirements include the following (to be submitted by the town/city official):
-Submit an online official nomination form containing community and tennis demographics.
-Submit one video showing the Community’s spirit and passion for tennis and the impact of tennis on an individual, an organization and/or the Community as a whole. This video must be no longer than five minutes and no larger than 500 megabytes. Video must be in one of the following formats: .mpg; .mov; .avi; .wmv; .mpeg; .flv
-Demonstrate that the community is working in collaboration with both public and private organizations to support tennis and has a recognized tennis committee, commission or task force; to be portrayed through five letters of support from the following partners:
-The mayor or executive government official
-The director of your parks and recreation department/agency
-A community business representatives
-Two community members
All entry materials will be screened by the United States Tennis Association and any that are deemed inappropriate or not suitable will be disqualified at the discretion of the USTA.
All nominations must be received in full by Monday, June 28, 2010, at 11:59 am ET. Limit one nomination per community. From now through June 28, 2010 town leaders can nominate their community for the 2010 Best Tennis Town contest.
