Inaugural Caesars Tennis Classic Sets Atlantic City Attendance Record With 7,330

Harrah’s Entertainment, Caesars Atlantic City and Star Games announce second “Caesars Tennis Classic” in 2011

The inaugural “Caesars Tennis Classic” held at historic Boardwalk Hall on April 10, 2010 set a new attendance record for a tennis event in Atlantic City. The record crowd of 7,330 who witnessed the “Caesars Tennis Classic” surpassed the previous mark of 7,257 for the “Return of The Champions” event which featured Monica Seles versus Martina Navratilova in July of 1995.

In addition to setting a new attendance record, Harrah’s Entertainment, Caesars Atlantic City and Star Games also formally announced that the “Caesars Tennis Classic” will return for a second event in the Spring of 2011.
“Caesars is thrilled by the overwhelming success of our inaugural “Caesars Tennis Classic,” said Joe Domenico, senior vice president and general manager of Caesars Atlantic City. “Setting a new attendance record, supporting youth tennis and showcasing some of the sports greatest athletes is an achievement we are proud to have accomplished in year one and we look forward to an even better event in 2011.

“Tennis is back in Atlantic City!” said Jerry Solomon, president of StarGames, the sports marketing company responsible for producing the “Caesars Tennis Classic” and the BNP Paribas Showdown Cup at New York’s Madison Square Garden. The “Caesars Tennis Classic” has set a new standard for professional tennis in the Mid-Atlantic region and we look forward to producing top-notch tennis events for years to come.”

Harrah’s Entertainment/Caesars has been supporting world class tennis events since 1972. One of the best stops on the Men’s Professional Tennis tour, the “Alan King Classic,” which was played at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, hosted the like of Rod Laver, Jimmy Connors, Bjorn Borg, Ivan Lendl and Arthur Ashe. Through the 80’s and 90’s, Harrah’s continued to support world class tennis, bringing unique events to the Mid-Atlantic region most specifically the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. The historic venue has hosted champions such as Monica Seles, Lindsay Davenport, Martina Navratilova, Vitas Gerulaitis, Bobby Riggs, Arantxa Sanchez Vicario and Pam Shriver.
