South Side Opens 2014 Campaign With Win Over Herricks

In Nassau County Boys High School Tennis action Tuesday, South Side went on the road and defeated Herricks High School 5-2 in their Conference II opener. South Side was led by strong performances at first singles from David Reinharz and second singles by Max Kramer. The team of Mike Spelfogel & James Ryan clinched the match for South Side with a gutsy three-set 4-6, 6-1, 7-6(7-3) win at third doubles. South Side is now 1-0 on the young season.

In Conference IV,  Plainedge and Baldwin battled to the wire, with Plainedge finally pulling out the match 4-3. The key win was at third singles, where Tommy Marigliano of Plainedge defeated Austin Johnson of Baldwin in a tough three-setter, coming back from a set down to take the match 2-6, 6-4, 6-2.

In Conference I, Jericho defeated Locust Valley 6-1 and Friends Academy defended its home court with a 5-2 win over Manhasset.
