The sun was finally out on Long Island Thursday as the 2014 Boys High School tennis season heated up. In Conference 1-A action, it was Luke Johnston & Max Mastbaum who led the way for Port Washington in their win over Great Neck South's Landon Phillips & Harrison Dvoor. Johnston & Mastbaum came back from being down 0-5 in the first set to win seven straight games and take the set 7-5. After losing the second set 2-6, they again fought back winning the third and decisive set 6-2  defeating Phillips & Dvoor. Port Washington won the overall match 6-1 and is now 2-0 in Conference 1-A.

In Conference II, South Side continued its hot start with a 6-1 win over Wantagh. South Side was led by its first singles star David Reinharz, who defeated Wantagh's Evan Kober in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4. South Side moves to a perfect 3-0 on the season and will take on Massapequa Friday afternoon.

In Conference III-B, two matches were at the forefront. Valley Stream South defeated Farmingdale 4-3 as the team of Michael Kochman & Andrew Kratenstein defeated Steven Lensky & Joseph Napoli 4-6, 6-4, 7-5 in three hard fought sets. Sewanhaka defended its home court as they defeated the Bethpage Eagles 4-3. Josh Kessler defeated Mathhhew Heym, 6-2,1-6,6-4 at third singles.

In Suffolk County action, Hampton Bays defeated the previously unbeaten Center Moriches 5-2 in Conference IV. Hampton Bays won all four of their singles matches and Hampton Bays' first doubles team also won to complete the 5-2 victory.
