In cold, damp and windy conditions, the South Side Boys Tennis team pulled off a gritty 4-3 win over a very tough Garden City team to take over sole possession of first place in Nassau Conference II. With the overall match tied 3-3, South Side’s team of Ryan Chelius & Danny Collins found themselves down 1-4 in games and serving at 15-40 in the third set before rallying to win five consecutive games to clinch the match for the surging Cyclones. It was a very impressive road win for South Side, who remain perfect on the 2014 season at 4-0 and takes on North Shore Wednesday afternoon.

In Conference I action, Port Washington was flawless on their home court, a 7-0 blanking of Plainview JFK. Alex Grossman clinched the match for Port Washington by defeating Evan Lander at second singles. Also in Conference I, there was a second sweep as the Syosset Braves defeated Jericho 7-0. The team of Riki Ishikawa & Austin Ash won the clinching match at first doubles for the Braves.

In Conference III-A, it was Mepham who shut out Oyster Bay 7-0.
