The 2014 ESPYs took place last night from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, CA as the top athletes and celebrities were in attendance to honor the best moments and players from the past year in sports. Hosted by Drake, the award show gathered the most important people from the sports world into one room for a blend of jokes and awards to remember an unbelievable year in sports.

There were a number of tennis players who attended the event, as awards are, of course, given out to the best male and female tennis players. While the debate on who is the best is still up in the air, the ESPYs made its decision.

Rafael Nadal took home the Best Male Tennis Player award, beating out Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic. Despite his recent struggles, Nadal ended 2013 with the number one world ranking including titles at the French and US Opens. He followed that up with the French Open title again in 2014 and won 10 total ATP titles in the calendar year.

On the women’s side, Russian Maria Sharapova won the award for Best Female Tennis Player. Sharapova most recently won the French Open at Roland Garros before falling short at Wimbledon. It was her third straight French Open final appearance and second title in those appearances. She was competing against Agnieszka Radwanska, Li Na and Serena Williams for the award. Sharapova was in attendance with her tennis-playing boyfriend Grigor Dimitrov.
