One of the best matches of the 2014 girls season took place Monday, as Great Neck South took its undefeated record on the road to Wheatley in a Conference II-A matchup. Wheatley was coming off an impressive win over Great Neck North in its previous outing, while Great Neck South was looking to move one step closer to a perfect season.

In a tightly-contested affair, the Rebels from Great Neck South squeaked out a 4-3 win to move to 7-0 on the year. The deciding match came at second doubles, when the team of Jenni York & Yorana Wu defeated Courtney Schwartz & Stephanie Bochlem 6-1, 6-4 to seal the victory. The Rebels will play Friends Academy next, while Wheatley travels to Herricks.

Also in Conference II-A, Great Neck North defeated Garden City 5-2 behind the third doubles team of Valerie Szuster & Amy Shtyeman. The duo won 6-2, 6-4 to move North to 3-4 on the year.

In a Conference I showdown, Roslyn took it to the Oceanside Sailors, sweeping all seven matches to notch a 7-0 victory. At third singles, Sophie Radutzky knocked off Jess Schwarz 7-6(6), 6-3, while Katherine Changtroraleke beat Montaine Maier 2-6, 6-4, 10-8 at second singles. Roslyn improves to 6-1 on the season.
