Sam Stosur, the woman who ousted Serena Williams and Justine Henin from the 2010 French Open, made it to the finals with a surprisingly easy straight set upset win over Jelena Jankovic, 6-1, 6-2. Stosur hardly lost focus at any point against Jankovic and seemed in complete control for the entire match. Stosur will now battle 17th-seeded Francesca Schiavone for the trophy.

“She’s a strong girl,” Jankovic said after bowing out to Stosur. “To be honest, she kind of has like almost the game of a man. That’s what it feels like. She has a very good kick, which not many women have. It’s a very heavy spin.”

Schiavone got an easy break when her semifinal opponent, Elena Dementieva, retired after the first set. The Italian won the tiebreaker 7-6, to win the first set. After the set ended, Dementieva complained of leg pain and opted to retire from the match. Dementieva apparently pulled or strained a calf muscle and felt the pain was too severe to continue. Dementieva cried into a towel after the match, clearly disappointed to have an injury pop up in such a big match.
