Great Neck North and New Hyde Park both remained undefeated on the 2015 season, notching wins on Thursday to extend their winning streaks to six matches.

Great Neck North took out Garden City 5-2 in a Conference II-A contest. The Blazers were led by Alyssa Ghassabian, who defeated Nicole Yaghdijan 6-3, 6-2 at third singles.

The Blazers will take their undefeated record on the road against Oyster Bay, while Garden City moves on to play at Cold Spring Harbor.

In Conference III-B, New Hyde Park notched a 6-1 win over Valley Stream South. The headliner in this one was the first singles matchup between New Hyde Park’s Steffi Antao and Valley Stream South’s Nicole Kielan.

Both players came into this match undefeated on the year, meaning something had to give in this one. It was Antao who would come on top, defeating Kielan 6-2, 6-2 to lead the Gladiators to the victory.

New Hyde Park will look to make it 7-0 on the year when it hosts Valley Stream North. Valley Stream South will next play at MacArthur.

In a tight Conference I showdown, the Syosset Braves moved past Jericho 4-3. The deciding match came at second singles, as Syosset’s Hannah Abraham came back from a set down to beat Rachel Hirschheimer 3-6, 6-2, 6-4.

The win moves Syosset to 5-1 on the season ahead of a road matchup with Locust Valley. Jericho heads to Port Washington next.
