A number of college women’s tennis teams on Long Island had busy and successful weeks. We round up the action from this past week and look ahead to upcoming matches:

Adelphi
The Adelphi Panthers continued their undefeated season, moving to 8-0 and 7-0 in the Northeast-10 (NE-10) conference with a 6-3 win over Le Moyne. Adelphi was led by Rebecca Fakas, who paired with Elena Nastasi for a 8-1 win at third doubles, and routing Christina Perry 6-0, 6-0 at fourth singles.

On Monday, Sept. 28, freshman Karen Serina was named NE-10 Rookie of the Week. Serina of East Islip won her singles and doubles matches against Bentley on Saturday, Sept. 27. Adelphi’s next match will be on Saturday, October 3 against Assumption College.

New York Institute of Technology
The Bears of NYIT continued its undefeated season as well, knocking off Caldwell University 9-0 to move NYIT to 4-0 on the season. NYIT was anchored by its doubles tandems, who all won their respective matches 8-0 to give the Bears a commanding lead.

Rosa La Corte closed things out for NYIT, beating Debra Pellegrino of Caldwell 6-3, 6-3 at sixth singles.

The Bears will play Queens College on Friday, Oct. 2 and Molloy College on Saturday, Oct. 3.

Stony Brook University
The Stony Brook Seawolves recently competed at the Brown Invitational, and three of its singles players won their respective flights. Elizabeth Tsvetkov, Yana Nikolaeva and Louise Badoche all won their flights. Freshman Ester Chikvashvili, who won last year’s high school state championship playing for Half Hollow Hills East, won her quarterfinal match before losing in the semifinals.

Stony Brook will be back in action in Annapolis, Maryland for the Navy Blue & Gold Invitational starting on October 9.

Farmingdale State College
Farmingdale State continues to dominate the Skyline Conference. Last weekend, the Rams picked up two more wins to move its overall record to 7-2 and 3-0 in conference, beating Sarah Lawrence 8-1 and Oneonta 6-3.

Because of those results, junior Priscilla Signore of Staten Island was named Skyline Player of the Week. She went 4-0 in her matches at first singles and first doubles for the week ending Sept. 27, winning her fifth singles match of the year in the process.

Farmingdale will be in action next on Saturday, Oct. 3 against Purchase.
