
The William Floyd Colonials and Commack Cougars both continued their undefeated seasons on Tuesday afternoon as each squad notched victories to reach the Suffolk County quarterfinals.
Floyd, the top-seed, ousted 17th seed Westhampton 7-0. The Colonials were led by Emily Fernandez, who beat Emma Bender 6-2, 6-0 at first singles to anchor the win for Floyd.
Up next for the top-seeds are eighth-seed Sayville who beat ninth-seed Port Jefferson 5-2 on Tuesday.
Commack, the second-seed, defeated 15th seed Bay Shore 5-2 to book its spot in the quarterfinals. The Cougars will take on seventh-seeded Harborfields next.
Harborfields edged Mattituck 4-3 in its second-round matchup on Tuesday.
The other quarterfinal matchups in Suffolk will see sixth-seed Easthampton/Bridgehampton/Pierson take on third-seeded Ward Melville, and fourth-seeded Half Hollow Hills East will host fifth-seeded Islip.
