The New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) men’s tennis team earned the top spot in the East Coast Conference (ECC) preseason poll. The three-time defending conference champions were named the favorite by the poll of the conference’s coaches.

The Bears earned all six first place votes in the polling, and carry a 14-match winning streak dating back to last season heading into the 2016 campaign. Last season, NYIT reached the NCAA Division II tournament for the fourth straight year and reached the Round of 16.

NYIT is currently ranked 29 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings. NYIT senior Tomas Lieb was also named the Preseason Player of the Year by the conference. The Bears season gets underway this weekend when it takes on Youngstown State.
