The 2010 World TeamTennis season started off with a very successful showing Monday night for the New York Sportimes at Sportime Stadium at Randall's Island against the Washington Kastles. The overall match came down to the very end as a super tie-breaker was needed to determine the winner. Jesse Witten stepped up for the Sportimes in the super tie-break by defeating fellow American Bobby Reynolds to give the Sportimes the win.

The Sportimes and Kastles have developed a bit of a rivalry stemming from a heated altercation last season where Leander Paes and Robert Kendrick got into a shouting match, which led some of the other players to get involved as well. The Sportimes were also eliminated in last season's semifinal by the Kastles, so there was some nice revenge in this opening win.

The Sportimes home season continues Wednesday night , July 7 at 7:00 p.m. when they take on James Blake and the Boston Lobsters. Long Island Tennis Magazine will be on-hand distributing free magazines to all fans in attendence. We hope you all will come out and join us for a great night of tennis!
