The Stony Brook women’s tennis team split their two matches over the weekend, falling to Yale 5-2 on Saturday before rebounding with a 7-0 victory over Siena on Sunday.
After dropping its second straight match in a loss to Yale, the Seawolves responded against Siena on Sunday, sweeping all seven matches for a routine victory.
Sophomore Elizabeth Tsvetkov led the way with a 7-5, 7-5 victory over Siena’s Ali Garrity, and Stony Brook would go on to win three of the next five singles matches in straight sets to nail down the victory.
Stony Brook improves to 4-3 on the season, and will travel to take on Cornell on March 12 in its next match.
On the men’s side, Stony Brook traveled up to West Point for a couple of weekend contests but came up short, falling to NJIT 4-0 and then edged by Army 4-3.
The men will return to action on March 25 against University of Maryland at Baltimore County.
Hofstra Men Edge Hartford
The Hofstra men remained undefeated on the season, knocking off Hartford 4-3 on the road on Saturday night.
Hofstra earned the doubles point by sweeping all three doubles matches, and the singles play followed suit. Marcus Smith, Gustav Akesson and Yahn Gawrit all won their singles matches in straight sets to seal the deal for the Pride.
Hofstra will look to remain undefeated when it takes on Fordham on March 12.
