Stony Brook University and Head Coach Gary Glassman will stage an exciting serve and volley event that will showcase college women’s tennis’ true athletic ability. Ten East Coast collegiate teams will be playing the half court serve and volley singles game played on the doubles court known as One-On-One Doubles, on Sunday, Sept. 19 from 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. as Stony Brook hosts the Second Annual Women’s Collegiate One-On-One Doubles Championships. The teams competing are Stony Brook, Lehigh, Bucknell, Fairleigh Dickinson University, Army, Navy, NJIT, Marist, Radford and Bryant University.

"For women’s tennis, whom play mainly from the baseline, this event is truly exciting," said Coach Glassman. "One-On-One Doubles shows that Women can effectively Serve and Volley and compete well in this all-court format of play."

Last year’s event was won by Amy Houghton of Army, who holds the number one One-On-One Doubles ranking for collegiate women.

Admission to the event is free, and rock and roll music will be played throughout the four-hour tournament. One-On-One Doubles DVDs will be given out to the first 50 spectators. High school players, coaches, parents and teaching pros are welcome!

Coach Ed Krass, founder of One-On-One Doubles and the College Tennis Exposure Camps, will emcee the event.

For more information, call SBU Tennis at (631) 632-7208 or contact Ed Krass by e-mail at oneononedoubles@yahoo.com.
