Nassau County Regular Season Wraps Up

The Nassau County regular season concluded its regular season on Thursday afternoon, as the final matches took place and the seeds for next week’s county tournament were finalized.

In Conference I, Great Neck North earned itself the fourth-seed, downing Roslyn 5-2 to finish at 9-5 on the season.

The first doubles duo of Ashley Yu and Margaret Haykin defeated Anna Dicker and Ali Glick 6-2, 7-6(3) to anchor the Blazers victory.

The Braves of Syosset clinched the fifth-seed, beating Locust Valley 5-2 on Thursday. Ally Newman and Jenna Riech came back from a set down to beat Kristin Lollo and Giulia Maida 1-6, 6-4, 6-2 at fourth doubles to lead Syosset to the win.

Also in Conference I, Merri Kelly Hannity defeated Franchesca Karman 6-1, 6-3 at first singles to lead Cold Spring Harbor to a 4-3 win over Port Washington. The Manhasset Indians also edged out a 4-3 victory on Thursday, getting past Friends Academy 4-3.

The Nassau County individual tournament gets underway this weekend, beginning Saturday morning at Eisenhower Park.
