Rajesh Leads Syosset Into Nassau Semifinals

The Syosset Braves pushed its winning streak to 49 matches on Tuesday, moving past Manhasset 7-0 in a Nassau County quarterfinal.

The two-time defending county champions were led by sophomore Neel Rajesh, who continued his lights out play in the first singles spot with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Eric Yu.

The Braves will host Plainview JFK in Wednesday’s semifinal. The Hawks edged Cold Spring Harbor 4-3 in its quarterfinal on Tuesday.

The deciding match would come down to the third doubles court, as Ethan Treihaft and Sean Cohen came back to beat Alex Aronow and Sean Burns 4-6, 6-4, 7-5 to clinch the victory for Plainview and move them into the semifinals.

Last year’s runner-up Roslyn got past Great Neck North 7-0, behind the first singles victory of Daniel Weitz. The Bulldogs will play Port Washington on Wednesday.

The Vikings beat Jericho 6-1 on Tuesday, as Zach Gruber and Ryan Seigal knocked off Hunter Lazare and Warren Wang 6-1, 6-2 at third doubles to lead the way.
