A Last Resort

What do you do when you’re stuck in a situation without any obvious way out of it? That’s the situation I found myself in recently during the last snow storm.

My car was stuck where I had parked it and had little hope of getting it out. This was not the first time at the rodeo though, so I put my skills to the test. My girlfriend watched me dance the car back and forth in an attempt to get us out. The snow and ice won round one.

I got out of the car and started to chip away at the slippery culprit beneath my wheels with an ice scraper I found in the back seat. It broke. Round two was lost as well. Since we were close to my girlfriend’s apartment, I asked her to go ahead and I’d join her just as soon as I got the car out and found another parking spot.

I opened the trunk hoping to find something to help me. Eureka! I grabbed three tennis rackets, put them under the wheels that were slipping, and I was free. A last resort and difficult decision, but I was free.

I was later told that I should buy a small container of kitty litter and leave it in the trunk. Apparently, it’s cheap and exceedingly effective in such occasions. My three rackets will not see play again, but I learned a lesson with the sacrifice━Tennis solves all problems.
