Carefree Racquet Club in North Merrick, which is the official practice facility for the inaugural New York Open, hosted tryouts for kids seeking to become ballpersons for the tournament, which runs from Saturday, February 10 through Sunday, February 18 at NYCB Live, home of the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

Dozens of kids came out on a late Sunday afternoon to display their speed and prowess on the court in hopes of being chosen to be on court during the tournament.

“Huge positive indication about the New York Open in light of today’s ball person tryout,” said New York Open Tournament Director Josh Ripple. “The word is out and the kids want to be part of this ATP World Tour tennis event. It’s going to be big.”
