Commack’s Tannenbaum Wins Suffolk Division I Title

Commack’s Emily Tannenbaum captured the Suffolk County Division I Individual title on Tuesday afternoon, downing Taylor Goetz of Harborfields’ 6-1, 6-4 in the singles final at Half Hollow Hills West High School.

Finishing in third place was Alexis Huber of Half Hollow Hills East, as she defeated Lauren Hutton of Harborfields 6-2, 6-2 to.

Defending county champions Ariana Malik and Lauren Cherkin will once again return to the Suffolk County championships after winning the Division I doubles title on Tuesday. The pair came back to beat Hailey Stoerback and Julianna Schulz of Smithtown East 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 to win the title.

The Commack pair of Emma Matz and Julia Kinalis beat Rebecca Hall and Lauren Schiraldi of Smithtown East 6-4, 6-2 in the consolidation doubles match.

The four semifinalists in both singles and doubles are in the draw for the sectional tournament which runs from Friday through Monday at Shoreham-Wading River High School.
