The top junior players in the United States competed in the USTA Clay Court Championships last week at various different venues across the country. Players from the USTA Eastern Section posted excellent results and earned Gold, Silver and Bronze Balls for their efforts.

Gold Ball Winners
Sebastian Sec – Boys 18s Doubles
Sec paired with Lucas Brown to defeat Alex Michelsen & Conrad Brown 6-3, 7-5 in the championship.
Stephanie Yakoff – Girls 16s Doubles
Unseeded Stephanie Yakoff & Natalia Perez won 6-2, 6-4 in the championship.
Claire An – Girls 14s Doubles
As the top-seeds, An and her partner, Katie Rolls, won 6-1, 7-5 over Hadley Appling & Alanis Hamilton in the finals.
Silver Ball Winners
Ariana Pursoo – Girls 18s Singles
Ariana Pursoo & Seren Agar – Girls 18s Doubles
Ari Cotoulas – Boys 16s Singles
Tola Glowacka – Girls 16s Singles
Braeden Gelletich – Boys 14s Singles
Bronze Ball Winners
Thea Rabman – Girls 18s Singles
Claire An – Girls 14s Singles
Dominick Mosejczuk – Boys 14s Doubles
Lawrence Kleger, the Co-Director of Tennis at John McEnroe Tennis Academy, who coaches both Cotoulas and Sec, said:
“I am extremely proud of both Sebastian and Ari. Any time you go to a National Championship tournament and come away with a “ball”, it is a major accomplishment, particularly in the hot and humid conditions in Florida! Both boys were very fortunate to have Richard Mensing, Jr., JMTA’s Director of Performance and Athletic Development, present for every match in those extreme conditions. Ari told me after winning his semifinal match that he would never have won the match in three sets if Richard wasn’t there.”
