The high school regular season is coming to a close this week with the Nassau County season winding down and the last matches in Suffolk County being played on Wednesday afternoon. 

Great Neck North and Roslyn each won their matches to improve to 10-2 and remain in second place in Nassau I, while Port Washington won 5-0 over Syosset to win its 11th straight match and maintain its first place positioning.

Seventh grader Thea Rabman won at first singles and eighth-grader Martine McGowan won at second singles to help put Port Washington ahead early. After Mia Froccaro and Kelsey Sy won at third doubles, Brittany Polevikov and Sofia Walzer clinched the win with a 6-4, 6-2 victory at first doubles.

Port Washington and Roslyn will meet on Friday in a key Nassau I match.

Bay Shore maintained its spot in first place in Suffolk County’s League III, edging East Islip 4-3 to improve to 10-2 in the conference. In League V, Longwood beat Stony Brook 4-3 to move to 10-2 in the conference, just behind undefeated Ward Melville.

In Nassau II-A, Great Neck South edged Locust Valley 4-3 as Morgan Mittler and Annie Cohen won their third doubles match in straight sets. The Lady Rebels improve to 10-2, but are still one game behind Hewlett, who beat Lynbrook 6-1 for its 12th consecutive victory.

Katie Mazzanobile and Caroline Ditchik came back from a set down to win 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 at first doubles and lead South Side to a 4-3 win over East Meadow. The Cyclones move to 10-2 on the season and will have a big match on Friday against Plainview JFK, who currently sit one game behind South Side for second place in Nassau II-B. Sitting in fourth place is Massapequa, who snapped a three-match losing streak with a 4-3 win over New Hyde Park on Wednesday. Victoria Bal and Elizabeth Price won the clinching match for the Chiefs with a 2-6, 6-3, 7-6(6) win at second doubles, and Katriona Durkin won a key third singles match to help lead Massapequa.
