Following the week-long spring break, high school tennis returned to action on Long Island on Monday as teams across Nassau County continued their respective bids for a run at the playoffs.

In a tight Conference III-A battle, Carle Place edged Herricks 4-3. The Frogs rebounded from a 5-2 defeat against the Highlanders earlier this year to win its third straight contest. Mike Malanga and Karl Veigl clinched the victory for their team with a 7-6(3), 6-4 doubles victory.

The Roslyn Bulldogs and Massapequa Chiefs both preserved its respective undefeated seasons with victories on Monday.

In Conference I, Roslyn defeated Cold Spring Harbor 5-2. Ethan Sims and Danny Cohen notched a 6-1, 6-1 win over Matt Ross and Nikita Shoff at fourth doubles to clinch their team’s win.

Aidan Valentine won 6-3, 6-4 at second singles against South Side’s Russell Scala to lead Massapequa to a 5-2 victory.

For Great Neck North, Damien Chafe came back from a set down to win 6-7(3), 6-4, 6-2 at first singles to clinch the 4-3 victory over Port Washington.

Sean Cohen played in his first singles match of the year on Monday, and helped lead Plainview JFK to a 5-2 win against Jericho. Cohen came back to beat Steven Lee 2-6, 6-2, 6-1 at third singles to guide the Hawks.

Kabir Rajpal outdueled Logan Fliegel 7-5, 6-1 in the first singles flight to lead Syosset to a 5-2 triumph against Hewlett.
