Long Island High School Recap: Wednesday, April 10

The Roslyn Bulldogs continued its excellent start to the 2019 season, improving to 5-0 with a 6-1 win over Port Washington on Wednesday afternoon.

Roslyn took all three singles flights, and Dion Park and Jacob Stein notched a 6-4, 1-6, 6-4 victory over Zachary Gruber and Ryan Siegel at first doubles to lead the Bulldogs.

Massapequa also improved to 5-0 on the season with 4-3 win over East Meadow. The match came down to fourth doubles, as Joseph Adesso and Jonathan Lerman fought back to defeat Logan Helming and Anthony Piccinone 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 to clinch the Chiefs’ victory.

Defending Long Island champions Syosset bounced back from its first loss of the season with a 7-0 sweep of Great Neck North. The Braves’ win was clinched by its second doubles duo as Miles Capell and Joshua Elenowitz won 5-7, 6-2, 6-2 over Aaron Geula and Timothy Lee.

Minato Faukuda notched a 6-2, 7-5 victory at second singles, and Dave Budhram won 6-3, 6-3 at third singles to lead New Hyde Park to a 5-2 victory over Malverne on Wednesday. New Hyde Park now sits at 4-0 on the season.

Jericho edged Hewlett 4-3 in a tight Conference I showdown. Asher Lipman and Hunter Lazare  clinched the team’s win with a 6-1, 4-6, 6-2 win at first doubles.

Eric Cosares and Ryan McHugh stepped into the second doubles role for South Side on Wednesday, and came up huge as the duo won 6-0, 4-6, 10-8 over Nick Rose and Cole Hecker to help lead the Cyclones to a 7-0 win over Farmingdale.

Plainview JFK notched a 7-0 triumph over Cold Spring Harbor, as Eric Treihaft and Ben DeMarinis won 6-4, 6-4 against Hudson DeRisi and Matt Ross at third doubles.

Hicksville defeated Bethpage 6-1 behind the play of its singles competitors, taking all three flights. Om Mehta helped lead the way for Hicksville with a 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 win over P.J. Portugal at third singles.

Wheatley won its third straight match with a 7-0 victory over Glen Cove.
