The Suffolk County playoffs began on a rainy afternoon on Tuesday as only three matches were able to be played throughout the section’s opening round slate.

The Suffolk County playoffs began on a rainy afternoon on Monday, as only three matches were able to be played throughout the section’s opening round slate.

Mt. Sinai edged Hills West 4-3, as Alyssa Flanders and Gita Ramakrishnan won 6-2, 6-3 at second doubles in the match’s decisive flight. The 17th seed now moves into a matchup with Westhampton Beach for a spot in the quarterfinals.

Kyra Bello and Julie Rowan notched a 7-5, 6-1 victory at first doubles to lead Sachem past Eastport-South Manor 5-2. Sachem, the 11th seed, will meet sixth-seed Ward Melville next.

12th seed East Hampton narrowly defeated Longwood 4-3 in a tight first-round matchup, and advances to play fifth-seed Bayport-Blue Point.

The rest of the opening round matches will be played on Wednesday afternoon.
