The Port Washington Vikings pushed its winning streak to 30 matches and clinched Nassau County’s Conference I with a 7-0 victory over Oceanside on Tuesday afternoon.

“These girls have been simply amazing,” said Port Washington head coach Shane Helfner. “Taking a step back and looking at our 30-match winning streak…it’s an unbelievable accomplishment considering the level of talent in Nassau County tennis. These girls never settle. They keep wanting to improve and get to a higher level.”

The defending Long Island champions are now 13-0 on the season and will head into the county playoffs as the top-seed. Jeannie Ren and Yazemeen Deyhimi helped clinch the win on Tuesday as they held off Oceanside’s Isabel Weintraub and Hallie Neufeld 6-4, 1-6, 11-9 at fourth doubles.

“Winning the conference was the first step and a great accomplishment,” Helfner added. “But we still have work to do and the girls know that we aren’t done yet. The experience from winning last year is going to be a huge advantage for us as we move forward.”

Roslyn battled past Hewlett 4-3 in a tightly-contested matchup. Sophia Remnek and Skylar Schuman sealed the Bulldogs win with a 6-2, 7-5 victory at fourth doubles.

Remnek and Schuman fought back from 1-5 down in the second set, winning the final six games to secure the straight-sets victory and clinch the team victory.

“Our key to victory was perseverance,” said Remnek. “My partner and I kept pushing through game through game. From 1-5 down we won six consecutive games in order to win the second set and the match.”

Roslyn head coach Brian Hoffner was pleased with the performance of his team:

“This was a good win over a very talented Hewlett team,” he said. “Our girls played with confidence today. We just want to play hard and keep getting stronger. I was happy with our focus and effort today.”

In what was another tight Conference I contest on Tuesday, Syosset edged Cold Spring Harbor 4-3. Syosset would win three of the four doubles matches to win the match, including Stephanie Wiener and Alexa Brecher’s 6-1, 6-1 win over Allison Futter and Lili O’Donnell at first doubles.

Alina Lyakhov, Alyssa Ghassabian and Margaret Hayakin all won at first, second and third singles, respectively, to lead Great Neck North to a 6-1 victory over Manhasset.

Carle Place senior Julia Winer held on for a 6-4, 6-7(1), 6-3 victory at first singles as Carle Place edged Baldwin 4-3, earning the Frogs its ninth win of the season.

Led by its two senior captains, Massapequa defeated Calhoun 5-2 on Tuesday. Gianna Haskell and Emily Reitz won 7-6(3), 6-4 to lead the Chiefs.
