Maria Sharapova has withdrawn from the 2019 French Open, set to begin May 26th, citing lingering effects of a shoulder injury which is still not fully healed.

Hampered by the bum shoulder since late last summer after being knocked out of the Round of 16 by Carla Suárez Navarro at the U.S. Open, the injury has already cost Sharapova spots at this year’s Paribas Open, Miami Open, Porsche Grand Prix in Stuttgart, and the Italian Open in Rome.

“Sometimes the right decisions aren’t always the easiest ones,” Sharapova wrote on Instagram of her bowing out of Roland Garros.

Sharapova is a two-time French Open winner, capturing the title in 2012 and again in 2014.
