The weather in the New York-metropolitan area has been brutal this winter, but step inside and have some summer fun at the Beach Tennis Arena at the 2018 New York Tennis Expo.

The Activity Zone at the Expo will feature playing opportunities on the stadium court as well as 10&Under courts for younger players, but perhaps the most exciting component will be the indoor beach tennis court inside the Expo Hall.

Beach Tennis is one of the fastest growing racket sports in the world. It is played with a paddle and with a depressurized tennis ball. Competing on sand and with an elevated net, Beach Tennis shares elements of tennis and beach volleyball in a fun and innovative format. It is an International Tennis Federation (ITF) sanctioned sport with tournaments held all over the world.

“In planning this family fun day for the community, and putting together the ultimate tennis showcase, we thought it would be amazing to be able to recreate a little bit of the summer fun we have, during in the winter,” said New York Beach Tennis Founder and Publisher of United Sports Publications, Ltd. David Sickmen. “By collaborating with the New York Open, we can showcase this sport to the tennis world and to those who may not have seen or played it before.”

New York Beach Tennis pros, some of whom are internationally ranked players, will be on site in the Beach Tennis Arena of the Expo to conduct demonstrations, while also introducing and explaining the game to new players who want to try it out. The court will remain up for the whole week during the inaugural New York Open, and some of the ATP stars are sure to try their hand on the sand.

Stop by the New York Tennis Expo on Saturday, February 10 to get out of the cold and onto the sand for some beach fun. The Expo is FREE to attend and the Beach Tennis Arena is one of the many exciting activities that will be offered, so make sure you don’t miss out on this one-of-a-kind event.
