The Syosset Braves, defending Nassau County and Long Island Champions, became the first team to reach the semifinals in this year’s playoffs after a 6-1 triumph over Jericho on Wednesday.

With rain drowning out matches earlier in the week, the Nassau schedule has it some bumps in the road, and thus the lone quarterfinal match played on Wednesday pit Syosset versus Jericho.

Brian Gao clinched the victory for Syosset with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Justin Shen at second singles. The Braves now await it semifinal opponent, which will be the winner between Plainview JFK and Cold Spring Harbor.

The Seahawks of Cold Spring Harbor defeated South Side in their first-round match on Wednesday as Luca Johnson clinched his team’s win with a triumph at first singles.

On Thursday, top-seed Roslyn will host Manhasset for a spot in the semifinals, while Great Neck North visits Port Washington in the county’s other quarterfinal showdown.
