Ankle Injury May Force Clijsters Out of French Open

Kim Clijsters, already in the midst of a month-long absence from the game to heal some nagging injuries, may be sidetracked in her comeback as she injured her right ankle last weekend at a wedding.

On Saturday, Clijsters was wearing high heels when she stepped on someone’s foot at the wedding of her cousin Tim. Her ankle ligaments were stretched on top of a torn ankle joint capsule and tendon sheath, thus forcing her to keep her right ankle immobilized for several days and will leave her on crutches.

This latest mishap may cost Clijsters four to six weeks.
