Girls High School Recap: Roslyn Upends Jericho to Win Fourth Straight

The Roslyn Bulldogs continued their winning ways Monday as it traveled to Jericho for a Conference I tilt. Behind its strong doubles play, Roslyn was able to edge the Jayhawks 4-3 to win its fourth straight match and improve to 8-1 on the season. Marlee Singer & Carly Berman led the way for the first-place Bulldogs, ushering a great comeback to defeat Rachel Li & Erica Forrest 2-6, 6-3, 7-5 in the deciding match.

Up next for Roslyn will be a home contest versus Locust Valley on Wednesday, while Jericho drops to 5-4 and will look to rebound on its home courts against Oceanside.

Port Washington took care of Cold Spring Harbor 5-2 in a Conference I match. It was the singles play that won it for Port Washington as Sarah Seeman, Emma Rosenberg and Sydney Levy all won their respective singles bouts. It improves to 7-2 and will travel to Manhasset next, while Cold Spring Harbor drops to 1-8 and will meet Syosset on Wednesday.

Great Neck South took its undefeated record in the road to its cross-town rival Great Neck North on Monday. The Rebels didn’t miss a beat, knocking off the Blazers 6-1 to move its record to 9-0 in Conference II-A. Sydney Falchook paced the Rebels with her 2-6, 6-3, 7-6 (10-4) win at second singles to move South within four games of a perfect regular season. It will take on Oyster Bay next.

Also in Conference II-A, Herricks beat Garden City 5-2 behind Ayesha Chhugani’s win at first singles. Chhugani beat Ann Maria Donohue 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 to help improve the Herricks record to 3-4 before it hosts Great Neck North Wednesday. Garden City drops to 0-7 and will take on Wheatley next.
