Girls High School Recap: Great Neck South Clinches Conference II-A Regular Season Title

Great Neck South clinched Nassau County’s Conference II-A title on Friday as it rolled past North Shore 4-2 in a match that was called due to darkness. The win moves the Rebels to 12-0 on the season. The key match came at first doubles as Haarika Reddy & Emily Bae continued their winning ways. The Great Neck South pair upended Taylor Bradford & Christina Jud 7-5, 6-4 to pace the Rebels.
North Shore, who is in second place in Conference II-A, falls to 9-3 on the season.
Great Neck North notched a Conference II-A win on Friday as well. The Blazers knocked off Wheatley 4-3 behind Laura Mardkha’s 5-7, 6-2, 6-2 comeback win at third singles. The win moves Great Neck North to 6-6, while Wheatley falls to 1-6.
In Conference III-A, Mepham edged Carle Place 4-3. The deciding match came at second doubles where Hannah Bienstock & Gabby Rubino beat Tania Gonsalves & Erin Fitzgerald 6-2, 6-4(10-5) to pace the Pirates who improve to 3-6 on the year. Carle Place drops to 1-9.
