World number six Andy Murray has inked a four-year sponsorship deal with Under Armour, the Baltimore-based company. Under Armour is an originator of performance footwear, apparel and accessories, designed to make all athletes better. Murray had previously been sponsored by Adidas for the last four years, but will now sport Under Armour apparel during his competitions, in addition to being a part of the company’s marketing campaigns.

“I am very honoured and excited to be joining Team Under Armour and to help them tell their story globally,” Murray said. “They are committed to providing innovative apparel, accessories, and footwear, with an unmatched focus on training and performance.”

The two-time Grand Slam champion joins a number of prominent athletes already sponsored by Under Armour, including Tom Brady and Lindsey Vonn.

No official figures were released in the company’s statement, but reports believe the deal to be similar to his previous $3.5 million contract with Adidas.

“Signing Andy is really a special moment for the brand as we continue to elevate and diversify our athlete roster and expand our international presence,” said Ryan Kuehl, Under Armour’s senior category director for global golf and tennis. “Andy’s remarkable character, competitive spirit and unmatched ability make him the perfect fit for our family.”
